G4H – Goenkan for Humanity

G4H – Goenkans for Hope, Health, Hygiene & Humanity

This Community Service and Social Outreach Programme of G.D. Goenka Public School, Siliguri looks at the four pillars imperative to a life of quality and purpose: Hope, Health, Hygiene and Humanity. G4H creates avenues to bring these advantages into the lives of others. The quintessential Goenkan celebrates similarities, embraces differences and shares blessings through this programme — in elevating another, we reach to greater heights ourselves.

Fitness Campaign

"It is health that is the real wealth, and not pieces of gold and silver." – Mahatma Gandhi

A Fitness Campaign started with Caregivers — drivers, conductors, kitchen and hostel staff — from October 2020. Participants begin their day performing Yoga asanas and Surya Namaskar, guided by Director Principal Ms. Sonika Sharma. The campaign creates Mindfulness and aims at incorporating Health and Wellness into their lives.

River Cleaning

"I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples." – Mother Teresa

Community clean-up projects initiated by the school to improve the surrounding areas. Members from the Transport team cleared a radius of 3km from the school and initiated a project to clean all streams and water bodies in the neighboring areas.

Educate to Elevate

"Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today." – Malcolm X

From September 2020, the school started this project with 115 female caretakers from the kitchen, hostel and other departments. The team was divided into six groups based on education level, empowering them with training and learning programs. NTT (Nursery Teacher Training) is also being availed by 15 staff members.

GYOF – Grow Your Own Food

"The love of gardening is a seed once sown that never dies." – Gertrude Jekyll

Launched on 5th September 2020 with around 120 caretakers, GYOF ignited a passion for understanding where food comes from. Six different allotted areas grow vegetables, herbal Ayurveda plants and fruits — monitored by designated caretakers as part of the school's self-sufficiency drive.

Vaccination Drive

To safeguard the health of the G.D. Goenka Siliguri family, a Vaccination Drive was organised for all staff in association with The Lions Club of Siliguri (Siliguri Terai Lions – Blood Centre). All staff members were vaccinated and received the first dose of Covishield.
